Schedule & Format

The English Open follows the standard knockout structure, with the top 16 seeds entering at the venue stage and the rest of the field coming through qualifying in Leicester. Matches run best of seven through the early rounds, stepping up to best of nine in the quarter-finals and best of eleven in the semis, before a best-of-17 final played over two sessions.

Players to Watch

Mark Allen returns as defending champion after one of the tournament's great survival acts — five straight deciding-frame wins on his way to a 9–8 final victory over Zhou Yuelong, a run that ended an 18-month wait for a ranking title and lifted him to a 12th career crown. Brentwood has a habit of producing shocks too: last year's edition saw world No. 1 Judd Trump fall to Elliot Slessor, so don't expect the seeding to count for much once the balls are rolling.
